Challenge
The church's powerful CRM software was underutilized because staff and volunteers did not know how to use it and were intimitaded by the unintuitive interface. Furthermore, the manufacturer-provided training consisted of long, ineffective videos.
My
Solution
I created a series of microlessons that focused on performing a specific task in the software. Each microlesson includes a relatable scenario and guided practices within the software. To reduce learners' anxiety, I used a friendly character, an informal tone, and bright colors.
Why
It Works
The microlesson format reduces the learner's cognitive load by organizing ideas into discreet chunks. Guided practices enable learners to build and reinforce neural connections that form the basis of learning. Taking steps to reduce anxiety during training increases the learner's ability to engage wtih the content and their ability to focus on the content, retrieve learned information, and apply learning information to solve problems.
