The
Challenge

The original learning material consisted of a lengthy, text-heavy manual with few supporting images. The learners needed a much more visually rich experience with opportunities to practice and check their knowledge.

My
Solution

I organized and scaffolded the information into digestible chunks, translated much of the text into videos, and supported the remaining text with images. To strengthen learning, I cued prior knowledge, added guided practices, used signals to focus attention, and strategically placed knowledge checks with corrective feedback.

Why
It Works

Careful organization and sequencing of information helps learners build mental schemas that connect new information with existing knowledge. These schemas and their supporting neural connections are strengthend when learners retrieve information during guided practices and knowledge checks. Repeating key terms and concepts in varying contexts also strengthens the learners' neural connections and schema building.
