The
Challenge

The client, a running coaching organization, needed a scalable and affordable way to to teach their runners about the different types of runs included in their training plans.

My
Solution

I created a self-paced online course featuring relatable characters, familiar scenarios, and drill-down interactions that explains each type of run and the role it plays in a distance running training plan. To keep costs down, I created all graphics using PowerPoint shapes and free-for-commercial-use images.

Why
It Works

Familiar and relatable elements foster learner motivation and engagement, help learners build mental schema by connecting new information with existing knowledge, improve retention and recall by creating strong cognitive anchors, and reduce cognitive load. Drill-down interactions allow learners to choose their level of learning, increasing engagement and reducing cognitive load.
