The
Challenge
Leaders in the field of educational technology must understand the role physical and virtual learning spaces play in the design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences. To access information on this topic, leaders must typically locate, read, and annotate many journal articles, a time consuming and often ineffective method of learning.
My
Solution
I created an evidence-based course that distills current research on designing technology-enhanced learning spaces, organizes it into logical units, and pairs it with meaningful images. Learners engage with the content through video, text, and interactive learning activites. A final knowledge check with self-correction opportunities helps learners monitor their understanding.
Why
It Works
Strategically organizing information into logical units reduces the learners' cognitive load, enabling them to devote more brain processing power to building meaningful mental schemas. Pairing text with meaningful images activates two channels of information processing, which helps learners process and integrate information more effectively. Citing credible sources builds learners' confidence in the material.
